Who this is for
Owner of a store whose search box often shows no results for things customers ask for.
You exported search terms and found a long list of searches with zero results.
The result
You get a list of your top 30 no-result searches, each with the synonym, redirect or filter change that should fix it. On a test store, at least 28 of the 30 now return a product your reviewer judges relevant, and none of 30 searches that worked before has broken.
What is included
- Your search query export: queries and result counts, without personal data
- The top 30 no-result queries, each with one proposed change: synonym, redirect, filter or product-data change
- A test on a test store or search-app copy that you own
- A regression test on 30 queries that worked before
- Steps to apply each change yourself
You receive
- The top-30 fix list
- The test results
- The regression results
- Step-by-step apply instructions
- A list of queries that need new products or pages
What is not included
- Applying changes to your live search
- Third-party search services you cannot copy
- Ranking or merchandising strategy
- New product pages or content
- Paid ad keywords
- Customer data
What we need from you first
- Which search tool you use
- How many searches a week return nothing
- A sample of 20 failed queries
- No store login
Never send passwords, keys, customer records or confidential code in the first enquiry. Secure handover is agreed after scoping.
How we check it is done
- On the test store, at least 28 of the 30 top no-result queries now return a product your reviewer judges relevant. These are the queries we wrote fixes for, so this is a count, not a promise about other searches.
- All 30 queries that worked before still return results after the changes, and the top result is unchanged or judged relevant by your reviewer; one broken fails the whole test.
- Every proposed change is one the search tool supports, with steps to apply it.
- Queries that need a new product or page are listed apart from fixes.
You re-run the acceptance checks with the steps we hand over, read the results and sign off in writing. Payment follows sign-off.
When we would stop or decline
- Search is a third-party service that cannot be copied or tested
- The export holds personal data that cannot be removed
- Most failed searches are for products you do not sell
Questions
Do you change my live search?
No. We test on a copy and you apply the changes.
Will it raise my sales?
We cannot say. It makes searches that return nothing return something relevant.
What about searches for products I do not sell?
They are listed so you can decide whether to stock them.
Does a pass mean it will be right next month?
No. A pass describes items like the test sample on the day of the test. It is not a promise about future items, and it does not replace your own checking.
